Azerbaijan clarifies what methods were used to determine identity of discovered human remains

“I would mention forensic genetic examination as one of the main methods used to identify who the found human remains belong to,” Deputy Head of Department of Criminalistics and Information Technology, Head of the Department of Forensic Science of General Prosecutor's Office - Head of Criminalistics Department Orkhan Rzayev said as response to the inquiry about the methods of identification of the found human remains at the briefing for the mass media, APA reports.

Orkhan Rzayev noted that for this, a data bank was created in the Military-medical headquarters of the State Security Service and genetic samples were taken from close relatives of missing persons and included in that bank: “After the genetic profiling of the discovered remains, identification with the data in the bank determines the exact identity of the remains.”
