Document on legal status of EUMA enters into force

The agreement on the legal status of the European Union Monitoring Mission in Armenia (EUMA) has entered into force, European Union Mission in Armenia posted on its official X account, APA reports.

"Important development and great news for EUMA! Following the completion of the final steps of ratification, the Agreement between the EU and the Republic of Armenia on the status of EUMA – the SOMA – has now entered into force," noted in the post.

Recall that the agreement on the legal status of EUMA was signed last November. The mission was deployed on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on February 20, 2023 with a two-year mandate. The unarmed, civilian Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP) Mission monitors and reports on the security situation along the Armenian side of the international border with Azerbaijan.
