Azerbaijan's state service: Cybersecurity threats have become more complex

In recent times, the threats faced in the field of cybersecurity have become more complex and have begun to spread globally, Allahveren Ismayilov, Deputy Head of Azerbaijanchr("39")s State Service for Special Communications and Information Security, said at the "5th Summit of IT Leaders of State Agencies" held in Baku.

Ismayilov noted that cybercriminals are now targeting individual users rather than public data or networks: "In order to prevent such threats, there is a need for closer cooperation, more exchange of experiences and awareness. If we focus on new threat trends, among the issues discussed, new cybersecurity challenges such as deepfakes, DDOS attacks, phishing, social engineering and ransomware remain as extremely serious problems. Such attacks can affect not only small organizations but also large ones. All this shows that cybersecurity threats have a wide impact not only on technological but also on social and political levels."

"Artificial intelligence offers both great opportunities and new risks in cybersecurity. The use of artificial intelligence to ensure information security has led to major advances in areas such as data analytics, anomaly detection, and early detection of cyberattacks. However, there is also the risk that artificial intelligence will be used in cyberattacks. Attacks carried out with artificial intelligence against networks exposed to cyberattacks make security measures more difficult and the fight against them more complex," Ismayilov said.
