Russia warns Armenia over payment of CSTO membership fee

If Armenia does not pay its membership fee to the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) budget by the end of 2025, the organizationchr("39")s member countries may consider various scenarios, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandr Pankin told Russian media, Olaylar informs.

According to Pankin, this will mean two years of non-payment by a member state:

"Probably, no one will expel anyone, no one will automatically leave. But, probably, we can look at the issue of the modalities of future cooperation between the countries."

The deputy minister said that there have already been cases when other countries have incurred debts for technical, financial and other reasons.

Pankin added that the dialogue with Yerevan on the CSTO continues: "We always hope for the best. We have negotiations with Yerevan [in the CSTO] on the entire agenda: bilateral, regional and international."
