Zelenskyy rejects holding of elections in Ukraine before the end of hostilities

Elections in Ukraine will not be held until the end of the hot stage of the conflict, said Volodymyr Zelenskyy, answering the question about his legitimacy in an interview with British journalist Pierce Morgan, APA reports.

During the interview, Morgan noted that Russia points to Zelenskyy's illegitimacy, and calls for elections are also heard from the United States.

"I have always said that I am open to any election. But there can be no elections during the war. The Constitution should have been changed. <...> The hot stage will end, martial law will end, then elections will be held," Zelenskyy replied. At the same time, he admitted that "if martial law is stopped now, most of the army will return home to their families".
