Stricter regulations on migrants come into force in Russia today

A law allowing internal affairs authorities to deport migrants residing illegally in the country without a court decision has come into force in Russia as of today, APA reports citing Russian media.

The relevant amendments have been made to the federal law "Concerning the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Russian Federation" in August 2024.

Those who do not comply with these regulations will be deprived of the right to purchase housing or a car in Russia, apply to banks for credit, enter into marriage, and move freely within the country.

Recall that there are a significant number of Azerbaijani migrants in Russia.
