Ambassador: Suffering of Jammu and Kashmir’s people similar to Karabakh's occupation

"The suffering of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, illegally occupied by India, is similar to what the Azerbaijani people experienced during Armenia's occupation of Karabakh," Pakistan's Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Qasim Mohiuddin, said during an event at the embassy dedicated to "Kashmir Solidarity Day", APA reports.

He stated that India's occupation of territories internationally recognized as part of Pakistan has been confirmed by several United Nations Security Council resolutions.

"India's occupying forces continue to use brutal force against the civilian population of Kashmir, including men, women, children, and the elderly. The illegal arrests of Kashmiri youth, assaults on Kashmiri women, and ongoing killings are a cause of serious global concern. It is regrettable that such crimes against humanity involve all levels of India's state forces. India's actions are aimed at reducing the Muslim population of Jammu and Kashmir to a minority in their own land. The ongoing suffering in Jammu and Kashmir reflects the extremist ideology of the current Indian government against religious minorities, particularly Muslims."

The diplomat also noted that it is important for the international community to continue supporting the Kashmiri people until they are given the opportunity to exercise their right to self-determination, in accordance with their wishes, through a free and fair referendum under the auspices of the UN: "The significance of 'Kashmir Solidarity Day,' observed every year on February 5, reaffirms the unwavering support of the international community for the just struggle of the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their right to self-determination. The government of Pakistan and the people of Kashmir express their gratitude to the brotherly people and government of Azerbaijan for their fair and continuous support on the Jammu and Kashmir issue."

The event concluded with other speeches.
