In January, 2025, 3,209.5 thousand tons of oil were transported through oil pipelines in Azerbaijan, which is a 1.8 % decrease in an annual comparison, Azerbaijan's State Statistics Committee told APA-Economics.
The information states that 72,3% of the transportation was carried out through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil export pipeline (BTC), and 2319.1 thousand tons of oil were transported through this pipeline during the reporting period, which is a 6,7% increase in an annual comparison.
During the reporting period, 83,1% or 1 926.5 thousand tons of oil transported through the BTC pipeline was oil produced in Azerbaijan(6,3% decrease), and 16,9% or 392.6 thousand tons (8.9% decrease )was oil imported from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
Recall that last year, 38,752.1 thousand tons of oil were transported via oil pipelines in Azerbaijan, which is a 2.5% decrease in annual comparison. 76% of the transportation was carried out through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil export pipeline, and during the reporting period, 29,470.9 thousand tons of oil were transported through this pipeline, which is a 2.4% decrease in annual comparison.
Note that in 2024, 82% or 24,172.5 thousand tons of the oil transported through the BTC pipeline was produced in Azerbaijan, while 18% or 5,298.4 thousand tons (a 1.1% increase) was imported from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
