Passenger rail transport between Azerbaijan and Georgia will resume on May 1, the Georgian Ministry of Economy has released information, APA's Tbilisi correspondent reports.
It was reported that the issue was discussed during a meeting between the First Deputy Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili, and the Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev, who is on a working visit to Georgia.
During the meeting, attention was paid to the growing role of the Middle Corridor and the measures taken with the active participation of the parties to increase its competitiveness and attract additional cargo. It was noted that the parties also discussed the opening of passenger railway transportation between Georgia and Azerbaijan, which will begin on May 1 this year.
"Railway passenger transportation is very important for our tourism. At the meeting with our Azerbaijani colleagues, we also discussed the forecast for transportation for the current year. Of course, it was very important to share our plans and visions so that with maximum coordination we can become more competitive in the region and internationally," Levan Davitashvili noted after the meeting.
