The proposed temporary ceasefire in Ukraine is nothing more than a temporary pause for the country’s military, said Aide to the President of Russia for International Affairs, Yuri Ushakov, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports.
According to him, steps that imitate peace efforts in Ukraine are of no benefit to anyone.
Ushakov noted that Russia is striving for a long-term peaceful settlement in Ukraine that takes into Moscow’s interests and concerns account. He did not rule out that President Vladimir Putin might give more specific and meaningful assessments regarding the temporary ceasefire proposal on Thursday.
The presidential aide also mentioned that he regularly maintains phone contact with US National Security Advisor Michael Waltz. He added that during his conversation with Waltz, he commented on the temporary ceasefire proposal in Ukraine and explained Russia’s position.
Ushakov further noted that both Russia and the United States agree that Ukraine’s admission to NATO cannot be discussed in the context of settlement.
