"The Azerbaijani embassy in Syria resumed its activities after a 12-year hiatus. The embassy had suspended its operations due to unfriendly actions taken against Azerbaijan by the former Assad regime," Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov told journalists, APA reports.
He mentioned that contacts between Azerbaijan and Syria are ongoing: "The first humanitarian aid has already been sent by Azerbaijan to Syria. A phone conversation with the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is planned soon."
The minister emphasized that Azerbaijan will continue to provide the necessary support for Syria to become an important actor in the international relations system.
