On March 12, 2025, the "WUF13 NGO Coalition" was established at the initiative of the Azerbaijan National NGO Forum, APA reports.
25 foreign NGOs from 18 countries participated in the founding conference, held in a hybrid format.
The Azerbaijan National NGO Forum, the flagship of national NGOs, represented the Azerbaijani side in the Coalition.
The Chairman of the Forum's Board, Ramil Iskandarli, thanked the foreign NGO representatives for their prompt response to Azerbaijan's initiative and their willingness to cooperate closely.
Notably that recently, the Azerbaijan National NGO Forum initiated the creation of a coalition of foreign NGOs, which is planned to participate in the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13) to be held in Baku in 2026. For this purpose, an online meeting was organized on February 28, 2025, with NGOs from three countries—Switzerland, Italy, and Benin—and initial consultations were held. During this meeting, NGOs that participated in the WUF12 Forum, held in Cairo, Egypt, in 2024, highly appreciated the initiative of Azerbaijani NGOs.
Recall that the restructured Azerbaijan National NGO Forum has started to transform into an international platform since 2024. In 2024, the Forum established the COP29 NGO Coalition, which brings together over 500 NGOs from nearly 100 countries.
