Leyla Aliyeva visits mountain Jews museum in Guba

On March 18, Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, visited the Mountain Jews Museum in Guba’s Krasnaya Sloboda settlement.

Naum Naftaliyev, the museum’s deputy director, provided an overview of the museum, which is the world’s first dedicated to Mountain Jews. The museum showcases exhibits highlighting their rich history, customs, traditions, and culture.

Located in the Garchagi Synagogue, the museum houses a collection of national costumes, ritual objects, manuscripts, books, 19th-century antiques, and artifacts from across the Caucasus, preserving the heritage of the Mountain Jewish community.

The museum stands as a symbol of Azerbaijan’s commitment to multiculturalism and regional tolerance, reflecting the country’s historical intercultural connections.
