Beijing intends to increase practical cooperation with its BRICS partners in various sectors, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning stated, APA reports citing TASS.
"China is prepared to further strengthen practical cooperation with its BRICS partners in various fields, contributing even more to the sustainable growth of the global economy," Mao said, commenting on US President Donald Trump’s plans to impose 100% tariffs against BRICS countries.
She characterized the group as an important platform for collaboration among developing nations. "BRICS advocates for openness, inclusivity, and mutually advantageous cooperation," Mao pointed out.
"We don’t engage in bloc confrontation or seek to target any third party," she added. The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized that the BRICS group’s objective was "to achieve common development and prosperity."
Trump previously warned that he would impose 100% trade tariffs on goods from BRICS countries if they introduced a new currency or abandoned the US dollar.
