Trudeau, Zelenskyy stress Ukraine must be included in talks to end war

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed in a call on Thursday that any talks to end the war with Russia must include Kyiv at the negotiating table, the prime minister's office said, APA reports citing Reuters.

U.S. President Donald Trump is pushing for a quick deal to end the war, alarming Washington's European allies by leaving them and Ukraine out of initial talks with Russia last week.

"The leaders stressed that any peaceful end to the conflict must include Ukraine at the negotiating table," according to a readout of the call with Zelenskyy released by Trudeau's office.

Canada has one of the world's biggest Ukrainian diasporas outside of countries that border Ukraine, and Ottawa has been one of Kyiv's staunchest supporters in the conflict with Moscow.

In his call with Zelenskyy, Trudeau reiterated Canada's support for Ukraine and "emphasized that there can be no sustainable peace in Europe without security for Ukraine," according to the statement.
