Azerbaijan's State Service: Cybercriminals target individual users more -PHOTO

Recently, the threats we face in the field of cybersecurity have become more complex and started to spread on a global scale, said Deputy Head of State Service of Special Communication and Information Security, Major General Allahveran Ismayilov, during his speech at the V Summit of IT Heads of State Institutions, APA-Economics reports.

He noted that cybercriminals are not only targeting state data and networks but also more and more individual users as well. In order to prevent such threats, there is a need for closer cooperation, more exchange of experience, and awareness-raising.

"If we pay attention to the new threat tendencies, among the issues discussed, new cybersecurity challenges such as deepfakes, DDoS attacks, phishing, social engineering, and ransomware remain extremely serious problems. These types of attacks can affect not only small organizations but also large organizations. All of this shows that threats in the field of cybersecurity have a wide impact not only on the technological but also on the social and political spheres," the deputy head noted.

He added that artificial intelligence offers both great opportunities and new risks in cybersecurity: "The use of artificial intelligence to ensure information security has led to significant progress in areas such as data analytics, anomaly detection, and early-stage identification of cyberattacks. However, there is also the risk of artificial intelligence being used in cyberattacks. Attacks carried out with artificial intelligence against networks exposed to cyberattacks complicate security measures and make the fight even more complex."
