EU doesn't need its own army - High Representative Kallas

Since the organization has 27 member countries, the European Union does not need its own army, Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, said in an interview with Anadolu Agency, APA reports.

"We should not repeat what NATO is doing. We have 27 armies in the EU and all of them should contribute to this collective defense we cooperate with. Each country has its defense plan and defense budget, so we cannot say 'we need a European army.' We cannot say that, but when it comes to NATO and the EU, we need these 27 members to work very well together," Kallas said.

Kallas emphasized that there are more allies we need to work with in NATO, and Türkiye is one of them.
