The EU countries extracts 50 billion cubic meters more gas from underground storage facilities

The capacity of underground gas storage facility in European Union countries has dropped below 53%, APA-Economics reports citing the Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) association.

According to the information, the capacity of storage facilities in the EU countries makes up 52.65%, which is 7.08% points lower than the average for this date over the past five years.

It is noted that since the beginning of the heating season, EU countries have extracted approximately 50 billion cubic meters more gas from underground storage facility. The heating season in Europe started on October 29, 2024.

It is reported that the total volume of gas in the storage facilities is currently close to 58.5 billion cubic meters.

Recall that starting from December 31, 2020, Azerbaijani gas has been launched to transport to Europe through the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP).
