The underground gas storage capacity in European Union countries has dropped to 37% for the first time in over three years, APA-Economics reports citing the Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) association.
The storage levels in the EU currently stand at 37.17%, which is 11.21 percentage points lower than the five-year average for this date.
It was noted that since the start of the heating season, EU countries have withdrawn over 68.5 billion cubic meters of gas from underground storage facilities. The heating season in Europe began on October 29, 2024.
It was reported that the total volume of gas currently stored in the underground facilities amounts to 41.1 billion cubic meters.
Note that since December 31, 2020, Azerbaijani gas has been transported to Europe via the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP).
