Level of gas storage capacity in EU drops below 50%

The capacity rate of underground gas storage facilities in the European Union countries has dropped below 49%, APA-Economics reports, citing Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE).

According to the information, the capacity rate of gas storage facilities in the European Union countries is 49,02%, which is 8.12% points lower than the average for this date in the past five years.

It is noted that the EU countries have extracted approximately more than 54 billion cubic meters from the underground storage facilities since the start of the heating season. The heating season in Europe began on October 29, 2024

Currently, the total volume of gas in storage facilities is around 54,4 billion cubic meters.

Recall that the transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe through the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) began on December 31, 2020.
